FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions -

Custom Jewelry

1.  Can you create jewelry from a photo of my pet or a person?

Yes! We create custom sculptural portraits of dogs, cats, and people from your photographs. Each design is individually developed to capture the features and expression that make your subject special.

2.  What metals are available?

Rings are available in sterling silver, 10K gold, or 14K gold.

Charms and pendants are available in sterling silver. If you’d like yours in gold, please contact us for a custom quote.

3.  What is the difference between a charm and a pendant?

A charm is a smaller portrait for a delicate piece of jewelry. A pendant is larger, allowing more room for sculptural detail. Please check the measurements in each listing before choosing.

4.  What kind of photo should I send?

A clear, well-lit photograph showing the face is ideal, but we can work with almost any photo. Additional angles can help us understand details such as ears, hair, and facial shape. If you’re unsure which photograph to use, send a few and we’ll help you choose.

5.  Can you work from an older or memorial photograph?

Often, yes. Please send the photograph before ordering so we can assess the detail available and discuss what is possible.

6.  Will I see the design before it is made?

Yes. We’ll send a digital rendering of your custom portrait for approval before casting. This is your opportunity to review the likeness and request adjustments.

7.  Can I preview a design before purchasing the finished jewelry?

Yes. Our Custom Jewelry Design & Digital Rendering service lets you begin with a $50 design fee, which is credited in full toward your finished HeartKat piece.

8.  How do I choose my ring size?

Please select your US ring size when ordering. For the most reliable fit, have your finger measured by a jeweler using a sizing band similar in width to the ring you’re purchasing. Contact us before ordering if you need a size that isn’t listed.

9.  Can the portrait rings be stacked?

Yes—the stackable portrait rings are designed to be worn together. You can celebrate several pets or loved ones, or build your collection over time.

10.  Is a chain included?

Please check the individual listing and select your preferred chain option where available. If you need a different length, contact us before ordering.

11.  Can I request a different size or finish?

Please ask! We can discuss portrait dimensions, finish preferences, and other changes before you order. Custom requests may affect the price and production time.

12.  How long will my jewelry take?

Production time varies by piece and begins after you approve the design. Please refer to your listing for the current estimate. If you have a deadline, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether it is achievable.

13.  Will my finished piece look exactly like the rendering?

The rendering previews your design, but it is not a photograph of the finished jewelry. Casting, hand-finishing, lighting, and the metal you choose can create subtle differences in surface detail and appearance.

14.  How should I care for my jewelry?

Clean gently with a soft cloth and store in a dry place when not worn. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners. If your piece has an oxidized finish, avoid polishing the darkened areas, as this can remove the intended contrast. Contact us if you’re unsure how to clean your piece.
